 Jan McDermott with Whale Hunters will present on getting your sales process poised to be productive in
the 2012 economic recovery.

Jan Davies McDermott is the CEO of Echo Enterprises, LLC, a family of businesses that includes: Echo Education, Echo Engineers,
Guiding Light Business Consulting, and Davies House Inn Georgetown Bed and Breakfast. Jan has worked numerous years in the
non-profit, education, and private sectors. She has an Associates Degree in Chemical Technology from AT!, and a Bachelor's Degree
in Human Resource from Concordia College. Trained as a Certified Business Consultant through the Academy of Professional
Small Business Consultants at Grand Valley State University, Jan has worked developing small business owners since 1996,
including five years serving women business owners with WPO, and eight years as adjunct faculty at Schoolcraft College.
In her sixteenth year as the Owner and Innkeeper at Davies House Inn Georgetown Bed & Breakfast, Jan has hosted celebrities
from around the world. As President of Guiding Light Business Consulting, LLC, Jan has assisted in the launch and growth of
hundreds of small businesses over the course of fourteen years of work with the SBTDC, predominately with traditional start-up companies.

Jan serves on the Governing Body of the Athena Powerl.ink'Y Program and administers the program in Washtenaw County.
In addition, she gives time to the Honorary Board of Directors of the Grass Lake Sanctuary Retreat and Land Conservancy, and
the Ambassador Corps of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber of Commerce. Jan completed a ten-year tenure on the
Board of Directors of the Women Business Owners of Southeastern Michigan, and a five year term as the Founding Facilitator
and Chapter Chair with the Women President's Organization. Jan is a Certified Professional Facilitator, having completed
training in the Peter Drucker Five Question'Y Method, the Edward Lowe Peerspectivest'" Method, and the
Kauffman Foundation Fast'Irac'Y Program. She is a Certified Partner with The Whale Hunters'P' Process for making bigger sales
to bigger customers. She is a graduate of Leadership Ann Arbor and has received numerous local, state and national recognitions
in both the nonprofit and for profit sector. Jan is the 2005 recipient of the ATHENA leadership award; she has received
CEED's Outstanding Small Business Award, and was recognized as one of the 20 most influential women of Washtenaw & Livingston Counties.
